چکیده

This paper introduces a protocol for the measurement of shoulder movement that uses a motion analysis based technique and the proposed standards of the International Society of Biomechanics. The protocol demonstrates effective dynamic tracking of shoulder movements in 3D, including the movement of the thorax relative to the global coordinate system, the humerus relative to the thorax, the scapula relative to the thorax, the sternoclavicular joint, the acromioclavicular joint and the glenohumeral joint. This measurement protocol must be further tested for accuracy and repeatability using motion and imaging data from existing methods developed prior to the ISB recommendations. It is proposed to apply the validated model to assess pathological shoulder movement and function with the aim of developing a valuable clinical diagnostic tool to aid surgeons in identifying optimum treatment strategies. Keywords-shoulder complex; measurement technique; motion analysis; ISB recommendations.

A Novel Method for Automated Estimation of Effective Parameters of Complex Auditory Brainstem Response: Adaptive Processing based on Correntropy Concept

Objectives: Automated Auditory Brainstem Responses (ABR) peak detection is a novel technique to facilitate the measurement of neural synchrony along the auditory pathway through the brainstem. Analyzing the location of the peaks in these signals and the time interval between them may be utilized either for analyzing the hearing process or detecting peripheral and central lesions in the human he...

Improvement of density-based clustering algorithm using modifying the density definitions and input parameter

Clustering is one of the main tasks in data mining, which means grouping similar samples. In general, there is a wide variety of clustering algorithms. One of these categories is density-based clustering. Various algorithms have been proposed for this method; one of the most widely used algorithms called DBSCAN. DBSCAN can identify clusters of different shapes in the dataset and automatically i...

A Comparison of Three Methods for Postoperative Pain Control in Patients Undergoing Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery

BACKGROUND Arthroscopic shoulder operations (ASS) are often associated with severe postoperative pain. Nerve blocks have been studied for pain in shoulder surgeries. Interscalene brachial plexus blocks (ISB) and an intra-articular injection (IA) have been reported in many studies. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of ISB, a continuous cervical epidural block (CCE) and IA as...

Online Estimation of Elbow Joint Angle Using Upper Arm Acceleration: A Movement Partitioning Approach

Estimating the elbow angle using shoulder data is very important and valuable in Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) systems which can be useful in assisting C5/C6 SCI patients. Much research has been conducted based on the elbow-shoulder synergies. The aim of this study was the online estimation of elbow flexion/extension angle from the upper arm acceleration signals during ADLs. For this, ...
